WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB

The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote.

In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team.

Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league.

You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use.

However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on....

If you join our community you’ll be able to access member-only sections, and use many member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages to other users, posting your comments and opinions in threads all across our website, signal your appreciation of other people’s posts, be able to vote in polls (there are many polls amongst RR members and often run simultaneously), enter member competitions, and adding your personal material in the Media section, which contains many photographs, newspaper cuttings and other media connected with Reading Football Club, plus the large RR Reference Library of over 160 links and addresses. In addition you'll hear first hand of our news and announcements, and be able to participate in an all-ranging 'anything goes' section.

So take advantage, registration is simple, fast, and completely free – you can become a FULL member at an instant, and are welcomed as such on Royals Rendezvous from Day 1 – promised!
Why not make first stop by introducing yourself in the “Welcome! Thanks for joining” topic in the Introductions part of the site …

Black Cat Chat - League Position Prediction Comp

I'm very pleased to let you all know that we've had a really nice initial response from the Sunderland Black Cat Chat forum, and they now offer us to come aboard and be part of their prediction game. This differs from our own RR Table Prediction game - theirs is much easier! - you give ONLY ONE table guess NOW for the very END of the season, and for ALL 20 clubs in order. So do it once off and sit back and see how we're doing!. To me this looks very appetizing, and helps open our arms out:

These are their exact words:
"Our entries every year include the BBC pundits and Sky pundits. Our better entrants beat them both. We also work out what the average entry from our board would be and treat the board as an entrant in its own right. Is there any way you can get your board as an entity to agree an entry to this prestigious competition and it's fabulous prizes? (Its prizes are fabulous because they are the stuff of fable. No living human has ever seen one) ... "

So -
The idea we've agreed is that we on RR make a BLOCK ENTRY as Royals Rendezvous - they will make the averages of each of our participants so that the entry is common to all of us. Simply leave on THIS thread your table placings 1-20 for the FINAL table of the season.

Arsenal
Aston Villa
Chelsea
Everton
Fulham
Liverpool
Manchester City
Manchester United
Newcastle United
Norwich City
Queens Park Rangers
Reading
Southampton
Stoke City
Sunderland
Swansea City
Tottenham Hotspur
West Bromwich Albion
West Ham United
Wigan Athletic

Ah, and try to use the clubs named in this way, without numbers or the points added (!), for it's all a bit automated their end to make it easier. Therefore, try not to write A Villa, QPR, Wet Sham or Wigwam or whatever! It's dead easy - copy the teams in the list above and RE-ARRANGE them at will! Also, by copying and pasting onto your PC will avoid that some team is named twice meaning another doesn't appear (I remember that happened to us a year or so back, and it was hell sorting out!!).

Please have a go - we'll need at least half-a-dozen entries to make this a valid contribution from Royals Rendezvous as a block. The thought of doing it better than Lawro must be tempting to all of us!!!

They calculate to have their own entries at the end of the month, so ALL Royals Rendezvous entries by Sunday, 26th August 2012 please - and that's easy to remember because it's the day after our match together!

I'm staying faithful to my predo for the RR Table Positions Game (remember, that's only positions 1-6, 18-20, and RFC's position) and worked around it. If you do the same, won't cost you more than a minute:

Queens Park Rangers
Newcastle United
Arsenal
Everton
Sunderland
Tottenham Hotspur
Southampton
Fulham
Stoke City
Reading
Wigan Athletic
West Bromwich Albion
Swansea City

West Ham United
Norwich City

Ah, I forgot to say how THEY score it!!;

"Every so often I will harvest these replies, and from about week 3 onwards will publish the leaderboards. Scoring is as follows:
For each team you score one point for each place it ends up away from its predicted position. e.g. if you predict Sunderland to finish 7th and we finish 7th, you score 0 points (excellent) If we finish 1st you score 6 points or if we finish 13th you score 6 points as well. All leaderboards during the season are given for interest, the winner is the person who has LEAST points after the final game has been played."
