WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB

The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote.

In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team.

Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league.

You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use.

However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on....

If you join our community you’ll be able to access member-only sections, and use many member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages to other users, posting your comments and opinions in threads all across our website, signal your appreciation of other people’s posts, be able to vote in polls (there are many polls amongst RR members and often run simultaneously), enter member competitions, and adding your personal material in the Media section, which contains many photographs, newspaper cuttings and other media connected with Reading Football Club, plus the large RR Reference Library of over 160 links and addresses. In addition you'll hear first hand of our news and announcements, and be able to participate in an all-ranging 'anything goes' section.

Kean's job safe at Blackburn?

It appears Venkys have given Steve Kean the 'kiss of death' statement at Blackburn by saying "At the moment, Steve Kean is in charge and I fully expect him to start the season."

Hardly a glowing vote of confidence by any standards.

I think the club and Kean are both between a rock and a hard place. Who would want Kean to be their manager? and who would want to work for the Venkys as manager of Blackburn?

He should never had been in charge last season, but the owners in their biased way of running the club, I can see him sadly keeping the job. :(

My wife is a Blackburn lass and most of my in laws are Rovers fans. They love their club and are devastated by what has happened there since the Venkys took over.

When you think of the scrutiny that went into our new owners purchase of Reading its amazing to think that the Venkys were ever allowed anywhere near an English professional football club.

Its going to be a long hard slog for Blackburn next season and many of their fans are even saying they could carry on straight down to league 1.

Yep, first 6 games or so for Blackburn will be vital, after such a long time in the Premier. If they lost, say, 4 of those, you might see the first managerial casualty of the Championship season ;)

Wow, yes!! The Beeb says:

Kean resigns as Blackburn manager
Steve Kean leaves Blackburn Rovers after being "forced to resign" as manager of the Championship side, the Scot claims in a statement.

Steve Kean says he has been "forced to resign" as manager of Championship side Blackburn Rovers.

The Scot, 44, has left Ewood Park with immediate effect because his position had become "untenable", he said in a statement.

Owners Venky's held talks with Kean at the weekend following a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough.

Kean said earlier on Friday that he believed the talks had been "positive and constructive".

Rovers were relegated from the Premier League in May but have made a solid start to the new season, taking 14 points from their first seven matches.

They are currently third in the table behind Brighton and Huddersfield.

He didn't stand a chance with all the abuse he had to take.

Yeah, but to be fair to the man the change SHOULD have been made in the close season; hard for him now to look for anything else immediately ...

Who in their right mind would want to be manager of Blackburn working for the Venkys?

I'm sorry, but I think he should have been sacked a long, long time ago. Clearly not cut out to manage a football club, lost the fans backing completely, lost the dressing room on many occasions according to reports. Granted some of the abuse no man deserved but he definetely deserved to go, more so than Mick McCarthy at Wolves. Wonder who'll take him on now!
