| WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote. In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team. Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league. You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use. However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on.... It's a tale of two completely different aspirations for our local teams in the Conference South in the final run-in this season. Whilst Basingstoke are very much eyeing up a play-off spot - indeed they are only two points off with a game in hand (and they won tonight but I'm not sure it's been added yet to the BBC table as you see below) Top of table (Pl - Pts) - total games played = 42 1 Woking 40 93 --------------- 2 Dartford 40 86 3 Welling 40 77 4 Sutton Utd 40 71 5 Chelmsford 40 66 --------------- 6 Dover 40 64 7 Basingstoke 39 64 8 Boreham Wood 40 57 ONE team promoted automatically to the Blue Square Premier, and ANOTHER via the play-offs. unfortunately ... at the other end it's a second season in a row that Maidenhead United have to pull off an escape act if they can continue in this league level ... 18 Farnborough 40 43 19 Havant and Waterlooville 40 41 ---------------- 20 Hampton & Richmond 38 39 21 Maidenhead Utd 40 39 22 Thurrock 40 25 Three straight get relegated ... Just so you know - and anyone know a bit more about these two teams? |

I would love Blazin'joke to get promoted to the league. That would be just a boost to the area! |

Woking are up to the blue square premier next season replacing hayes and Yeading who currently groundshare with Woking. I watch Woking occasionally. |

Woking are reasonably local too - I know it's in Surrey but they're not a million miles away. But then it is the Conference South.. So all teams are going to be in the same region.. I surprise myself sometimes... |

Lets hope Chelmsford City go down next season - stealing our cityship / pre-empting the decision for them to be made a city in by 74 years (1938). 'mon the Cards/Dragons/Magpies. |

Farnborough pretty local too ... Of course, we're talking of the Conference South level UNDER the Blue Square Premier - no-one is coming up straight into the league just yet. Biggest success story of late has probably been Fleetwood - came up from the Conference North Division, and only 2nd season in BSP get automatic promotion to league. Southport and Newport are also in 2nd season in BSP, and Southport still have hopes of getting into play-offs ... I remember both of these at Elm Park ...

I'd say Southport are not going to make it now, they've dipped in form just at the end. Still, for a team relegated next season they've done amazingly well. Fleetwood have thrown money at it, successfully. Their chairman, Andy Pilley, is fairly notorious has basically brought them the league, a la Crawley. Don't be shocked to see them go straight up again. |

I've got a friend who's a big Woking fan, goes to every game and congratulations to them. £2 a ticket apparently, great value for money. Hope they do well in the Conference next year. and Basingstoke still in the hunt for a play off spot. Shame about Hayes mind, we'll never be in the Premier League together |
