WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB

The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote.

In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team.

Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league.

You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use.

However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on....

If you join our community you’ll be able to access member-only sections, and use many member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages to other users, posting your comments and opinions in threads all across our website, signal your appreciation of other people’s posts, be able to vote in polls (there are many polls amongst RR members and often run simultaneously), enter member competitions, and adding your personal material in the Media section, which contains many photographs, newspaper cuttings and other media connected with Reading Football Club, plus the large RR Reference Library of over 160 links and addresses. In addition you'll hear first hand of our news and announcements, and be able to participate in an all-ranging 'anything goes' section.

So take advantage, registration is simple, fast, and completely free – you can become a FULL member at an instant, and are welcomed as such on Royals Rendezvous from Day 1 – promised!
Why not make first stop by introducing yourself in the “Welcome! Thanks for joining” topic in the Introductions part of the site …

Going away from the most overated and under achieved manager ever, when the cameras went on the directors box , and showed Sullivan and Gold ,i am always reminded of the Driscol brothers out of "Only Fools and Horses". Just my weird sense of humour .
Didn't know the Driscoll brothers sold vibrators Bill :D

Ok here goes.

...

Go on Noel, come on Mikele, YESSSSS! 4-2 this is dreamworld. The away support are now in a frenzy and going through the full repitoire 'you're getting sacked in the morning' is sung to a ready to explode Allardyce. 'can we play you every week' and '4-2 in your cup final' is taunted to the West Ham fans who are now streaming out of the ground.

The final whistle and the travelling blue army rise to salute their heroes and most importantly the commander in chief 'he used to manage Slough, he is a Royal now, McDermott!!!'

Player ratings, everybody 10. Man of the match Brian McDermott!
Outstanding! I expect this captures only a fraction of the true insanity in that section of the stands, but you have conveyed an excellent set of images for those of us who could not attend. :D :D :D

I hope Camb-Royal is in a safe place when she reads this! But I'm sure she's enjoying a balanced diet while on holiday - I seem to recall a comment about a pina colada in each hand... ;) :D :D :D
Hopefully these will help too.

It's just one that the Reading fans have made up, mainly due to two reasons. Bill Oddie is a Reading fan and you can jump around a lot to it. Quite often accompanied by a lot of beer being launched over anyone within 20 yards.

Fair play to some of the West Ham posters - there are several giving Reading credit for converting their opportunities, and even saying that Reading was the better team. That takes a great deal of courage on a club board - most of the posters are true extreme fans who are at best very, very frustrated this evening.
Not sure where you read that Owlish, but I was up to page 60 of their match thread yesterday (on Knee's up Mother Brown) and although there were a few giving us credit, most were really insulting.

Although towards the end they seemed to be squabbling amongst themselves so. perhaps, in the cold light of day, they realised that the best team, on the day, won the match.

I read something called Vinneys match report on some West Ham forum and it Was very fair, and the replies were scathing about Sam instead of us and one poster says we were the best team he has seen at their ground

Sorry wrong thread but thought I would tag it on here to save searching around elsewhere.

Jason Roberts is one of the pundits on Match of the Day 2 tonight, for those in that can get it.
