WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB

The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote.

In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team.

Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league.

You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are many features you cannot use.

However, if you are a fan of another team you are currently allowed to post in “Rivals, but Friends” and the "Other Matches" sections, strictly abiding by the language decency standards that Royals Rendezvous maintains. No aggressive posts, wind-ups or swearing or the post will be edited/deleted. But please read on....

If you join our community you’ll be able to access member-only sections, and use many member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages to other users, posting your comments and opinions in threads all across our website, signal your appreciation of other people’s posts, be able to vote in polls (there are many polls amongst RR members and often run simultaneously), enter member competitions, and adding your personal material in the Media section, which contains many photographs, newspaper cuttings and other media connected with Reading Football Club, plus the large RR Reference Library of over 160 links and addresses. In addition you'll hear first hand of our news and announcements, and be able to participate in an all-ranging 'anything goes' section.

Reading FC & Neighbouring Teams Form

The saying 'all good things come to an end' rang true for Reading this week. A Tuesday night visit to London Road ended a 10 match unbeaten run which had led the Royals to 2nd place in the table. Two goals from set pieces and a third from a good attacking move allowed Peterborough to dominate Reading, despite an early lead. This turned out to be an anomaly, as a visit by the Tangerines on Saturday allowed Reading to come back to their winning ways with a display worthy of a 2nd placed team in the Championship. Above Reading, things look bleak as Southampton continue their winning ways to retain a five point lead at the top of the table, while West Ham United could only manage two points from as many games, leaving them four points behind Reading, but with a game in hand to be played still.

Without Blackpool winning this week, they dropped out of the play-off zone on goal difference. Birmingham City and Middlesborough also failed to register three points in either of their games, but retained their places. With Blackpool dropping out, Brighton And Hove Albion, having managed four points, made the leap from 9th place to 5th, and once again refreshing their hopes of joining Southampton in back-to-back promotions.

Our next week has only one date circled in the diary, and it's an important one: Saturday 31st March, Upton Park, West Ham United vs Reading. This week has the potential to end the competition for the last automatic promotion place. But, first, we can watch with eager eyes on Tuesday when West Ham will play their one remaining trump card on us, their game in hand. We must hope Peterborough are in the same spirits on Tuesday that they were last week, and that they enjoy taking points off the big teams. This week, we have everything to gain, but also a lot to lose.

Important Upcoming Fixtures

27.03.12 Peterborough United vs West Ham United
31.03.12 Brighton And Hove Albion vs Middlesborough
31.03.12 West Ham United vs Reading
31.03.12 Blackpool vs Southampton

Thanks for the appreciation daibo, brightens my day! I added colours to the table to highlight key positions a bit more.

For any techies out there, can we use any specific code on this website to create tables of our own? I just find the one offered quite restrictive.

Firstly thanks for nice words ...

But what I wanted to say was that I'm not on the techno side but 'content' side, but maybe worth an explanation from you explaining what might be good to have available-ish in the Suggestions Box in Introductions-Welcome part ... ?!
