| WELCOME TO ROYALS RENDEZVOUS - THE 1871 CLUB The Royals Rendezvous – the 1871 Club was formed over the Christmas-New Year period of 2010-2011. Many of its initial members were regular contributors to the BBC 606 service – alas, no longer in operation – who wished for a more specialized Reading FC orientated forum, whilst maintaining the good spirited type of conversation and banter that the BBC tried to promote. In its first two years of existence, the Royals Rendezvous is achieving outstanding success, with new members signing up continuously, and the member base itself extremely active. Over 500 members, over 70,000 posts is proof enough of the growing role of this specialist Reading FC fans forum web site. It is already recognized in other sporting circles as a major source of news and fan interaction (especially that related to Reading Football club of course), and has a strong and enthusiastic moderation team. Royals Rendezvous has also developed fine relations with many other specialist football forums, especially with teams of our own league. You’re currently viewing our forum as a guest. Cant see how the FA did not find all this out before they gave ok for him and cronnies to take over. Portsmouth have had so many owners and everyone seems to have been dodgey , they have fiddled their way to winning the cup , with other clubs players, i have no sympathy for their fans as they took the good times knowing what the club was doing , stevie wonder could see what was going on at the club, should be kicked out of football altogether, how many more times are they going down this road,? |

yep, but ... not the FAULT of the REAL fans. If Waller had had had way and we were now Thames Valley Royals, what could we really have done about it in the 80s? The same for Portsmouth - I've expressed my dislike for personal 'physical' thumpings I've received by their fans, but you can't tar 100% with the same brush! --------------------- edit; see note in Shout Box ... ! Anyway, here's a bit from the BBC - Portsmouth chief Vladimir Antonov arrested in bank probe http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-15882620 Article starts: The owner of Portsmouth Football Club, Vladimir Antonov, has been arrested in an inquiry into asset stripping. Lithuanian prosecutors want to question him as part of an investigation into claims involving Snoras Bank. They are also seeking his business partner Raimondas Baranauskas. Both are former managers and shareholders of the bank and deny any wrongdoing. Portsmouth FC said its business operations were unaffected and its day-to-day operations "carry on as normal". City of London Police said: "In response to a Europe-wide arrest warrant officers arrested a 36-year-old man in London this afternoon." Interesting to click on link at top, because there are a number of other links at the bottom of the article ... |

Sorry daibO i cant relate the portsmouth thing to waller, my point being this ownership thing at pompey has been a continous list of dodgey dealers going back to the Terry Venables days , and its still going on , and the fans have accepted and condoned all the things that have happened , ok the blue pratt with the top hat and bugle [who p****d over the seats at southampton ] pops up now again , and a token show at the high court, happened. But we took to the streets when waller was doing bad things , but whatever he was he never led our club into the fracas which is pompey , and we were saved by and are still run by an honest set of men , and i still maintain pompey fans who danced on southsea common in the "good times " deserve to go down with the set of crooks who are in charge now. An example needs to be set, and they have been getting away with far to much , far to long. Sorry if i sound hard ,but enough is enough . |

I agree with William on the Pompey situation but I think my view is slightly jaded as I put some of the blame of our relegation on their shoulders, while we didn't pick up the results we should have, Portsmouth just collapsed at home to Fulham on the final day as they rested players for the FA Cup final which came as a result of their overspending. Had they played Fulham any other time of the season they probably would have won. As for the actual issue, Portsmouth should be punished heavily and it should have happened after the initial farce, they chased short term success while gambling their long term future and who has suffered? The peasents, the ones who earn little, the small businesses linked with the club. I can't blame the players as they were offered contracts, they have no involvement with the day to day running of the club. Letting Portsmouth off lightly is a slap to the face of every club trying to keep their finances in order, our club included. |

If it was Cardiff or Swansea that were threatened with going bust anyone want to guess what would happen? Oh wait.... |
